Sinai Congregation was founded in 1861 by German Jews on the south side of Chicago. The collection consists of correspondence, minutes, reports, membership lists, clippings, pamphlets, nearprint, and miscellaneous material dealing with the development of Sinai Congregation and its place within the American Reform Jewish movement. The earliest records, from 1861-1925, are valuable as historical source material for the origins and development of liberal Reform Judaism in the United States. Inventory available.
